We had two W2K DCs in our domain (Mixed Mode). They got many error warnings after years of service. We decomissioned one of the two W2K DCs and did a “clean” W2003 server installation and patched it with all available patches. After we run “ForestPrep” and “DomainPrep” at the command line prompt, then promoted it as the 2nd DC. All seems OK until we shut down that W2K DC. Domain logon and file sharing were OK, but our W2003 Exchange Outlook clients and OWA stopped working. Our Active Directory integrated portal (by Stone-ware) stopped working also. This new W2003 server is listed in the active directory as an OK DC. I added another W2K DC and another W2003 DC into this domain, and even demoted and re-promoted this new W2003 DC, stil the same way: once the old W2k DC is shut down, Exchange and portal stops working. Something in the Active Directory in the old DC is not transferred into the new DCs. With only one working DC (a 5-yr-old W2K box) left, our network is in a very shaky position and I am stuck for over a month. Any one can help???
Please. Thanks in advance.
