W2K Pro apps Install over Network

W2K desktop apps Install over Network
On NT4 workstations my client currently installs applications from a network server share by using a “Network Install” tab on the Add/Remove function of Control Panel. This capability was set up using a Registry Hack on the NT 4 workstation OS.

I understand a network install function can be done using Active Directory on a Win2K network.

Has anyone been able to set up a like function on Win2K on a NT 4 network where active direcory is not available?
