The company I work for is doing a complete re-design of our internet site. I’ve been asked to provide a few ideas and standards that I think should be applied and I’m after a little guidance on what is reasonable.
Something that drives me nuts are sites that don’t resize and render using the full screen when I’m running higher than 1024×768 screen res.
While I accept that a design should be “optimised” for a specific resolution, that doesn’t mean it can’t be written in such a way as to resize intelligently and re-arrange the pages to suit other resolutions.
Is it reasonable to expect a new CSS based site to do this?
Similarly, is it reasonable to require the site to work correctly regardless of the text size I set in my browser? Many of the sites I use don’t work at all well if the text size increased.
Thanks for any input.
