Weird IP Address and Can’t Get to Internet

by williamsmc . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

I have a desktop and laptop; the laptop is connected by wireless PCI card to my router. Desktop is connected by cable and works fine and gets internet web pages.

Laptop indicates it’s “connected to the internet” and I can access files on my desktop from my laptop; but, I can’t bring up a web page on my laptop.

I’ve tried ipconfig…. release, renew and what shows in Network Connections is my usual IP address. But, when I do ipconfig /all, it shows:

DHCP Enabled: Yes
AutoConfig Enabled: Yes
IP Address: 192.168.0.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
IP Address: fe80::211:95ff:fe04:6408%9
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DHCP Servers: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1
fec0:0:0:ffff::1%3
fec0:0:0:ffff::2%3
fec0:0:0:ffff::3%3

This doesn’t seem right to me; with all the alpha characters and colons… not a typical IP address.

I’ve gone through the process of down-powering modem and router, re-booting, etc. I’ve also removed and re-installed the network wireless PCI card on my laptop. All to no avail.

Can anyone tell me what’s happening and how to correct it ? How can I get access back to the internet ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
