I am running WinXP Pro on two machines, and am running my network through a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router and have dhcp disabled on the router and have statically assigned 192.168.1.100 to the desktop and 192.168.1.101 to the laptop with a default class C Subnet. I have not blocked any ports or set up a Dmz or anything else on the router and I have named my desktop “DESKTOP1” and named my laptop “LAPTOP1” I can ping the routers gateway and all interfaces to both computers, I can even remotely connect from my laptop to my desktop using remote desktop, but i cant connect the other way. My Main problem is I cant get them to see each other in My Network Places. I do all the updates and whenever I make a config change I always change it on both systems. For some reason I can see myself only on the laptop in My Network Places(i.e. on laptop i see lapop1 but on desktop i cant see desktop1) I have tried everything I can think of short of reinstalling everything(whick would take days!!!!)MAJOR points to the person that solves the problem.
