What if you have an engineer like this

It so happen that one of my project, there’s this engineer that seems too hard to control and we’re both taking it personally.

If you have an engineer who seems to do or decide what he wants, what should you do? This engineer is not my permanent staff and for us Project Managers have them on board in the project once their expertise needed.

I need your advise.
