What is SAP and its scope

I am a post graduate in Business Management with a 3 years experience in Merchandising(customer handling and coordinating between the manufacturing unit and the customers).

Planning for a career change and step into IT industry with SAP. I require information regarding the modules offered in SAP and which will be suitable for my experience.
