what kind of ram ?

i have a pc to up the ram. it has pc66 168 pin in it. i added 1 stick and it dont show. if i replace 1 with a higher value it shows a loss of ram. if i try its ram in another pc it dont register. it has 48 mb. 2 sticks 1 32, 1 16. the 32 has tin pins, the 16 has gold. the ram dont work in 3 other pc,s that i tried . im at a loss. cust. claims tele was hit by lightning and had to change modem. pc works fine. ran all kinds of diag. programs. all checks out fine. HELP!
