What to do with an old AT Case…

by edward_hillmann . Updated 24 years, 7 months ago

Hi folks. I have an old 486 computer which has been OK for some Linux experimentation, but has more or less done its job. It’s built with an AT case, and I was hoping that I could just get a new Motherboard (and the appropriate bits like a processor, RAM, potentially video/sound cards … even though my current ones should work) and try an upgrade.

My main question is am I limited to an AT Motherboard? My gut says yes, but I didn’t know if there were some ATX boards that could go into an AT Case. Are there any alternatives to reuse the case, or should I just get a new case while I’m getting the board? 🙂

Just curious. Thanks for any info.

Ed
