Why is it that my users are having so many folder access problems? How can I solve this?
We’re running a Windows Server 2008 SP2 domain. All of our user computers are Windows XP machines.
The common problem is that the user will get to the containing folder %home% but the permission set will stop there, it doesn’t go all the way to their %home\username% folder. This happens with much greater frequency than it did when we were running a Server 2003 domain.
I thought it might be related to the “fast logon” problem that occasionally happened due to a saved profile on the computer. However, disabling “fast logon” via group policy isn’t an acceptable alternative.
What other options are there, or is this just something we’re going to have to live with until we either move to Vista or Windows 7?
