Where are my Fonts?

I got a new computer running Win2K. I transfer via our home network all of my fonts from my old computer (running Win98SE) but they won’t all transfer. The system says the font file may be damaged.
So I installed them from the original CD (Fonts2000 by NextStep) but they just don’t appear in the Fonts folder. The program goes through the installation process like it’s working but the fonts never show up.
Aren’t fonts supposed to work the same no matter what version of Windows you have?
