Where are the jobs?

Do other people see the IT industry like I do?

If you check the job boards there are actually quite a few IT job openings. Many of them for entry level positions and many for experienced professionals. But there are very few high level jobs (Probably because they just don’t advertise them on these job boards.)

I hear a lot of employers complain that they cannot find any qualified IT people. But then why aren’t they willing to train anyone? And then again, just because I have only managed small projects, does that mean I am not qualified (or capable) of managing large projects?

The big problem I see is that IT departments are run by accountants and sales people, not by technologists. The top level positions do not require technical knowledge, but an ability to cut costs and influence others (or the ability to sell yourself and your ideas). This leads to IT being identified as a cost to be cut rather than an enabler to be leveraged.
