Why Buy Norton’s or McAfee if they don’t do it?

I looked at a thread that was posted sometime in 2005 about what Antispyware do you use. Most every answer was about Adaware and Spybot. So why buy Norton’s 360 or McAfee’s if these other free progams do what a home user needs? Is there something I’m missing?
