Why can I remote in to a computer that says it has no internet access?

Why can I remote in (e.g., using Windows Remote Desktop) to a computer that says it has no Internet access, and cannot bring up web pages? My connection to it is through the Internet, so it evidently is, in fact, connected to the Internet!
