We have recently added a fire wall to our network with a Cisco router performing the connection to the ISP. The computers we have that are running Windows 95 and 2000 can access the Internet fine and will maintain the connection throughout the day. The problem is this. Our Windows 98 machines (regardless of 1st or 2nd Ed.) will drop the connections at various times thoughout the day. When the computers are rebooted the connection is there, a ping will get back a response and the email/browser will get responses. After 10 minutes or so, the connection to the outside world is lost, however the inside TCP/IP devices will still send responses. I have installed the latest NIC drivers and also checked for socket updates, but the problem still persists. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
