Why is my windows 7 machines printing so slow?

My customer has a network of about 12 windows xp pro 32 bit computers and a windows 2003 standard server 32bit. I’ve added 3 windows 7 pro machines to the network. There is a olivetti 284 multifunction network printer. Windows xp computers print quickly to the printer however the new windows 7 pro machines print extremely slowly. I’ve updated drivers on the windows 7 computers. Anything else that i can try?
