I would really like to attend a couple of webcasts coming up.
When I use the TechRepublic “Test Your System” app, I’m good to go except for the Media Player, which Failed.
It tells me Windows Media Player 10 or higher are good, OR RealPlayer 10 or higher. It also says “. Click on one of the icons to download Windows Media Player or Real Player.” There is only one icon, “download real player [sic]”.
I have Windows Media Player 10 installed, but never use it, as I prefer WinAmp; WinAmp is default for all my streaming and audio media.
I clicked on the “… real player [sic]” link, and am taken to their Gold version, which requires my credit card, and thus all my personal information as well. I long ago myself, and with all my family and clients, advised they uninstall Privacy-damaging RealPlayer.
I want to attend TechRepublic’s Webcasts, but strongly object to being forced to use “real player” and having my installed, supposedly-alternative Windows Media Player ignored.
What’s up, folks?
