Why move to faster network

How many network administrators run on a 10Mbps network. Have you all considered changing to a faster network? Why?
Network admin on 100 Mbps when you converted what did you look at first, switches and NICs, is there a certain speed NT4.0 like will performance change if we moved to 1Gig?
