Why no username shown on locked word file opened from network folder?

Has anyone else come across this and needed to get the username to be shown when opening a file from network folder and it is allready opened by someone else?

User gets the message “… is locked for editing by ‘ ‘” but it doesn’t say by whom.

Server is Windows Server 2k8 and ws:n are xp, 7 and Mac.
