Wiereless Security

I’m trying to secure a wireless LAN (2 Lucent AP-500 access points and 10 – 20 Lucent Orinoco Silver PCMCIA- cards) via a Windows 2000 Radius Server.
But I can’t get it to work; even with full logging enabled I can’t see any attempt of the APs to contact the server. May this be caused by wrong clients.conf/ users file settings?
Has anybody used this constellation before and could give me a hint what the configuration should look like? Thanks in advance!
