Will running WindowsXP on the I drive (versus C)affect connectivity?

I am having connectivity issues with one of the computers on my network. It will intermittently stop going to the internet, outlook and our inventory program which is a mapped drive off the server. The computer is running XP (SP3) and the problem seemed to start about a day and a half ago. I have physically shut off the computer and restarted it, disconnected from the network and ran a virus scan, checked to see if i needed to run a defrag(it keeps randomly telling me it has low disk space though it has over 100gb free), checked my firewalls, reset my firewall router. Nothing seems to permanently fix the problem. So now I am beginning to wonder if maybe because the C drive is now a recovery partition(the computer crashed around 18 months ago) that something is starting to act fishy?
