Win 98 Internet Problems

by tonywildcat17 . Updated 22 years, 9 months ago

The network contains Win98SE (1) and XP (1) machines. Both are connected through Comcast Cable modem through a Linksys router. Both were working fine with the internet, but now the 98 machine will not work. It obtains a DHCP address from the router (as does the XP), with the same DNS servers as the XP machine (works). In Command Prompt, I can ping the DNS server, but not “www.yahoo.com”. I CAN ping “216.109.118.64” which is the IP address for Yahoo. I cannot open the IP address in the Internet Explorer browser. If it was a DNS problem, it should be able to open the IP address. I have tried giving it a static different DNS server, but that did not work. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I am stuck right now!!! Thanks

Tony
