Win Me TCPIP Connectivity with Win NT

I am trying to connect a Laptop running on Windows Me on a Windows NT existing network. I think I have configured correctly the TCPIP parameters and the host file of the Laptop correctly, but I still can not ping it from an other PC or ping an otherPC from it (I obtain “hardware error” when trying the ping operation)

The network card of the laptop is configured properly since it works when connected to the internet.

I used a class A IP adress on the laptop in order to be compatible with the rest of the network.
