Win NT Modem Problem

I have my system configured to dual boot between Windows 98 and Win NT 4.0 . I have my Modem ( MDP3900 V-U ) installed COM2 in Windows 98, but I am unable to install it on Win NT because it doesn’t work properly on COM1. I tried installing COM2 port by going into Control Panel and Ports option. But when I restart the machine, I am getting a service failure message which says ” While validating that COM2 is actually a serial port, there was a cnflict in latch registers. COM2 is deleted”. Is there any way I can fix this problem ? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
