Hi guys,
Hope someone can help me out here. I have just reformatted a PC in the office and reinstalled Win XP Pro, updated to SP3, with all Windows updates done. However, for some reason, whenever I turn on the PC, I am unable to reach any of the other PCs or servers located within my network (all running on fixed IPs). Pinging any internal IP addresses gives me ‘Request timed out’ error. Having said that, i am still able to connect to the internet with no issues at all!
I have tried installing a totally different, brand new NIC as well as a wireless USB NIC, both with the same results. Needless to say, i am unable to logon to the domain, as at startup it does not allow me to connect to any internal servers/IP, thus can only logon locally.
The only thing that seems to make it work is to log in locally, then disable and the re-enable the NIC (whichever one is connected) before it will allow me to connect and/or ping internally. The original installation had no such problems whatsoever. Looks like this might be an issue with my Windows XP installation possibly? Any advice as such?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Stanley.
