I have a Windows 2000 Pro machine that can connect to my NT 4.0 Terminal Server when I an attached locally to the network. When I try to connect remotely (using a dial-up VPN connection to get to my main server) it times out.
I use a 2 step process to connect remotely.
Step 1 is a dial up VPN connection to get me authenticated on my network, which works.
Step 2 is the Terminal Services client, which is where it times out.
I am logging on with administrator priviledges, so that shouldn’t be a issue.
This is a new notebook, but I could connect it initially. I have installed some programs, and patched it with all the latest and greatest.
I have another PC at home, running Win 98 that has no problem connecting, so I don’t believe it’s my ISP.
I’m confused by the fact that I can connect locally but not remotely.
Does this sound like a Server or Client issue?
