Win2k: Corrupt Printer subsystem

The printer subsystem on one of my workstations has become corrupt. Restarting the service has no effect and everytime I try to reinstall a printer I get the error “Printer operation cannot continue due to lack of resources. The print subsystem is unavailable.” can this be fixed with out a reinstall? If so how?
