Win2k Pro cannot connect to Win2k Server

Running Win2k Pro and Server at home
for testing purposes.
i have this strange problem.
i tried to join my win2k server domain
but after supplying the user id and
password of the person authorized to
enter the domain.

it always shows.
“Domain not found
Invalid network path ”

i am using static ip and same Sub Net Mask
i can see my server if i configure the win2k to join the workgroup.
i have added the pc name to the
active directory.

Where did i go wrong ?
