win2k server and windows xp pro

i have windows 2000 server installed and also created users and have windows xp pro as our clints they were being trusted by the windows 2000 server with active directory support, as they access files form the server like excel files and work on them. the server had some problm with the installation so i had to reinstall it again so the trust relationship got lost. how do i re establish the trust relationship on the xp pcs without loosing the current profile like the desktop setings and all that. can any1 help me on this .
