win2k W/S printer install for all users

by loketar . Updated 22 years, 11 months ago

Heres the problem:
canon network photocopier/printer/scanner installed as a resource on a domain controller and shared out for access by domain members(by group).
Domain members who login via win2k w/s are locked down via gpo’s so that they do not have access to control panel/search/run. I need to be able to install the printer on the domain member workstations so it is available to each user who logs into the workstation thereafter. I know of only way to do that, local ip port, but a local ip port defeats the purpose of the canon magagement software requirements. (which requires that all users print from one server share in order to keep track of impression limits and quotas) I would like to be able do the following; Login into the workstation with the domain administator account, install the printer/copier/scanner via the server share, set up the preferences and then logoff having the printer with the prefs configured during the install available to each user that logs into that workstation thereafter. Anyone with any ideas, please send ’em my way. Not even the canon guys here can help out as they have never had to do a network install on a network that has profiles locked down like ours. Thanks in advance to any and all that reply!! 🙂
