Win2k3 Server ISSUES!!!!

by njack2004 . Updated 20 years, 10 months ago

After much banging of head on wall/desk/all other nearby hard surfaces I am resorting to posting this as last resort. Last resort because it’s hard to quantify this question.

Win2k3 Server running Exchange.

This issue began 3 days ago. Upon reboot of server, the system takes a little while to go through the shutdown procedure, but nothing out of the ordinary. Upon the restart process, it takes FOREVER to even get to a login prompt. (Forever=30-60 minutes). However, Exchange works during this time frame. Once finally at login prompt, log in, takes another 30+ minutes to get to desktop. Again Exchange works with no issues. I am also running Blackberry services and print queues on this server.

Yesterday, print queues were not working and nobody could print. Attempted to restart print services. This operation hung and the service did not respond in a timely manner. This put ths service status into a stopping state. However everything else on the server worked fine. Processor usage is/was 98-99% Idle, and memory usage is around 25% maybe. After troubleshooting last night the server was rebooted and print queues are working as is Exchange, however Blackberry services are not working although services are shown as started and running. When trying to restart the services the same behavior happens as happened with the print queues previously. Again system resources are not being utilized hardly at all. (Proc 98-99% Idle and little memory usage). Attempting to do anything to any service via the mmc causes mmc to appear as if it is not responding. Unable to affect services via command line…receive System Error 1060…The specified service does not exist as an installed service. Have checked for viruses, etc, with none found.
