Win95 client won’t connect to Win2k srvr

by mtlotts . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

We replaced a NT4 sp5 Server box serving as a print server with a Win2k Server box, and our Win95 client PCs cannot connect to it. They can browse all other servers in the domain, but this one. When attempting to browse using Network Neighborhood or Add Printers, the process freezes and you have to end the task.

The old server was renamed (OldPrint), and the new server was given the old server’s name (PrintServer) and all printer shares were duplicated so that our users wouldn’t have to re-add printers on their PC’s.

Win98 and Win2kPro clients have no problems, only Win95 clients. We are using TCP/IP in a totally Windows domain. Active Directory is not enabled on the Win2K Server box.

Tried downloading all updates from Microsoft Updates.

Any ideas?
