I used to have a 4MB Diamond Stealth Pro 2D (PCI) video board in my computer, coupled with a Voodoo2 (PCI) for 3D acceleration.
With those video boards installed, I could run a resolution of 1024×768, at a refresh rate of 87Hz, with no problems.
I recently upgraded to a Geforce3 Ti200 video board, and now I cannot get my screen resolution to go above 800×600 while in Windows. The strange thing is, if I’m playing Unreal Tournament, I can change the game resolution to 1024×768, but the screen resolution stays at 800×600, so the game is bigger than the screen…
I am running Win98SE. I have the most recent updates for my OS, and the most updated drivers for my monitor (NEC Multisync 75 – driver date 12/3/2001) and my Geforce 3 (detonator drivers, dated 11/29/2001).
As far as I can tell, all BIOS settings are correct and I have removed all traces of old video drivers from windows.
I have tried different refresh rates. I tried everything from 60 to 100 Hz, but I cannot get the resolution higher than 800×600. When I try, the monitor seems to change modes, but when Windows comes back, asking if I want to “keep this setting”, the resolution is still at 800×600.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am about out of them.
Iappreciate any input.
