Win98 NT logon scripts

I am having a problem with NT logon scripts. I have done this numerous times without a problem until now. I have a win98 client logging into an NT server SP4/domain. I am using tcpip only on the client. Wins and DHCP are running on the server. However I do not have wins enabled on the client. Is this necessary for the logon script to run?
