Windows 2000 & Powerpoint

We have recentely had New PC’s installed in our office, with the new Windows 2000 package. When I go into Powerpoint, and try and insert an image from file, I keep getting an error message telling me to save my work and close the application. Then when I try to close direct from the window it won’t allow me and I have to close the program from the task list.
Any help would be appreciated
