Call me a nube, but I’m having issues with good old W2K and Remote Access.
My setup: NT4 Domain, no active directory, W2K Server box on Domain acting as Remote Access server. Two adapters in the RAS, one WAN and one LAN.
Goal: Access the local network through a VPN connection on the RAS server, via an external IP – 216.###.###.###
I’ve setup the RAS server and I know its active because I can connect to the VPN from other machines on the local network, using the external address.
However, when I attempt to connect to the VPN by a dial up connection, through the external address, I do not resolve a connection, and it does not get to the point of authenticating.
It seems to me that there is a problem with requests coming from outside our network, which are not being accepted, while request from a local address are being accepted. I do not believe that this is a firewall issue because my WAN connection is a static IP outside of the firewall.
I think I’m just missing one small setting or security configuration, but I’m stuck as to what might be missing or incorrect.

I’m aware of 3 addresses: 192.168.1.9 (LAN), and 216.223.###.##7 (WAN). 216.223.###.##8 is the external address for my networks connection. I don’t know where the 192.168.1.43 address came from, or how it is used.
