Windows 2000 Shut Down problem

Recently i migrated from Win98se to Win2000ProSP3. But the new windows system do not shut my computer down (as win98se did). Instead there appears a screen with message “It is now safe to turn off your computer”. And i must shut it down by the button on the case. Both operating systems recognize my chipset – Intel82440LX(no additional drivers to look for). How can i manage with this problem?
