I’m having trouble with Windows 2003 server IIS and FTP service. We have a Windows 2003 server set up on a closed network where I work. We have IIS installed and use the FTP service to transfer files to the server from Unix hosts for backup purposes. The problem we are having is that at random times the FTP service, or maybe the IIS itself, seems to timeout and just go to sleep. It requires us to login to the server machine, reset the IIS administration service to auto start and restart the FTP service and then the service will work for a period of time again before timing out again. The FTP service is used at various times throughout the day, sometimes its hours between uses and sometimes there is only an hour or so between uses. There seems to be no set pattern of ‘sleep’ cycles for the server, sometimes it works all day, sometimes not. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thank you
