Windows 2003 / SBS r2 Licensing

Existing network running 2 servers: linux box (samba for PDC) and windows 2003 server… if purchasing a new server to replace the linux box with sbs r2 do new cals need to be purchased, or will the current 2003 cals apply to the new sbs server?
