Windows 2003 server

I have a windows 2003 server and 2 windows xp pro workstations.
I am just learning how to set up a network. Some questions:
1. How do I get a windows xp workstation to logon to a windows 2003 server?
I know how to set up a user account with permissions but do not know how to connect the user to a logon script and give access to their user directories and everything else that is required to use the server?
