If two users attempt to access the same file located on a windows 2003 server the whole network jams, pcs hang and the server has to be rebooted.
We originally came across this user our own product so after a few weeks figuring out what was the casue we found it was 2003 – we moved our application back to a 2000 server and it worked perfectly.
We then tried two people accessing the same word document on the 2003 server – same result, all pcs on that network hang and server needs to be rebooted, same happens for Source safe (still happening) or any other application that can have concurrent users accessing the same file.
I set up a mini network with three pcs and a 2003 server, clean install and tried all of the scenarios above – same, hang and reboot
Any suggestions or fixes for this or has anyone even come across this before ?
any help would be much appreciated
