Windows 7 Startup Issue

Hello All,

I’ve recently come across a problem with several of our machines and trying to find the cause.

The problem occurs when trying to load Windows, it passes the POST and then proceeds to a BSOD with a message PROCESS1_INITIALISATION_FAILED

A Microsoft KB article suggests to delete the “bootcat.cache” file, however did not state the actual cause only that the file had changed in size or had been corrupted.

Anyone else come across this problem, I would also like to know what the bootcat.cache file actually does. I assume it stores the structure of the disk in this file??
