Windows 98 domain name change

I just upgraded our PDC from NT 4.0 to 2k. Before doing so I changed the domain name. I am having problems with clients running 98 & ME. I changed the domain name in the client for MS networks properties to the new domain. Restart and all is well. However, if I go back in to client for MS properties or reboot, the old domain name is there. I did rebind the adapter, TCP/IP (even though we use DHCP), and client for MS, but no luck. Even changed it to a workgroup and then back to the domain, no dice! What’s up?
