windows explorer is slow to open doc files

I have 3 accounts on my HP home desktop. Recently the one account (w/administrator privileges) started opening word ‘doc’ files very slowly using windows explorer (2-3 minutes), yet other file types are fine and Word opens the ‘doc’ files without a hitch. My other 2 accounts (one user, one with admin rights) do not experience this problem. I am running XP Pro SP3 w/Media Center 2005 and Office 2003 Student/Teacher. Everything is updated. I use ZoneAlarm Security Suite (anti-virus turned off) and AVG 8 Anti-virus Pro. As said, this is a recent problem and the other 2 accounts, same machine and drive, do not experience this problem. Any thoughts guys??
