Windows Fax From Outlook Through Network Fax Machine

by craigrs84 . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

Hi, I know next to nothing about fax. Could you please walk me through the steps necessary to enable clients on my network to fax through outlook using a network fax machine (the [fax:12345670] email address format). Do I need to set up a fax server? If so the server will be Windows 2003. I have found some information about using the computers fax modem as a fax server, but I do not want to use the comptuer’s fax modem, I want to use the network fax machine.

My company already has it set up so the users can print to the fax machines, and receive emails in their outlook inbox, but need to be able to also send emails from outlook for this specific application. If they can already print to the fax machines, and receive emails in their outlook inbox, does that mean we already have a fax server set up? I emailed a coworker to try and find more information but he was vague. Here is his response, “Our phone system and unified messaging gives us the ability to receive faxes in an exchange mailbox.”

Thank you.
