Windows hard reboot on Program Start

I’m having a problem with an older Dell that just started to hard reboot on certain programs (mas90, preview). I may have to reinstall these programs, but this problem just started to happen out of the blue.

I know the best bet is to scrub and reinstall everything, but I;m hoping for suggestions to get around this until The new computer arrives.

Any hints or suggestions?
