Windows Ingenius Disadvantage

by jardinier . Updated 17 years ago

Two of my computers have become infected with the virus: “Windows Genuine Advantage.” How did the virus get there as I never visit Microsoft’s website? Could it have possibly come because I was silly enough to send an “anonymous” error report when some program crashed?

Naturally I will not install this item. If it doesn’t like my copy of Windows, it might decide to lock my system.

Has anyone had experience with this nuisance? Is there some way to prevent the notice from appearing every time I boot up my computer?
