In his 10 Windows XP Timesaving Tricks, Greg Schultz implies that the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility is used to remove applications. Actually it cannot remove applicati0n files. What it does is to remove the installer configuration, and that can be very useful when an application insists on constantly installing itself. Also he should have warned not to use it on Word 2007.
He also discussed how to eliminated unused drivers. Actually any disconnected hardware may show up as an unused driver, but that does not mean it should be removed. This procedure should be used with care, and only if one is sure that the driver’s hardware does not exist.
If these points have already been made by others, I apologize for any redundancy.
