Windows ME error files

Hi guys there..
OK, my question is, when I ran Windows ME on my new PC, I always get this message “REGENEV32 has caused an error in ..”
At startup I also get an error that says I need to restart the PC because Windows found an error in some system files and a confirmation if I want to restart Windows. When I click on YES (to restart the PC), it hangs and freezes!
What is the cause of these errors and how can I overcome it?
