windows media player and burning discs

i am used to burning discs w/ windows media player. lately though, its acting funny and discs i burn only work when i play them on my comp.have two cd/dvd burners and both act similarly. when i burn a disc it doesnt work in my cd player. when i burna disc on my son’s, which is the same comp it works.have tried a cd lens cleaner.
